  ***  Winter Landscape Maintenance ***

 1) Cover open soil areas in planter beds with a layer of mulch to protect roots over the winter, to discourage weed growth. Mulch layer wil also break down over winter season and add a layer of nutrients to the soil.

2) Control broadleaf weeds in well established lawns with post-emergent broadleaf weed killer

3) Install holiday/fall color

4) Inspect controller schedules and reduce amount of water used for irrigation in previous months, many perennials enter a dormancy season in the winter.

5) Fertilize turf areas, shrubs and ground cover

6) Inspect building perimeters for hazardous tree branches, in preparation for winter winds from stormy weather.

7) Mulch tree wells to a depth of 2 inches.

8) Clean gutters, ‘V’ ditches and surface drains from leaves and debris to guard against winter flooding when rain occurs.
